Orbea Gain D40 Tiagra Electric Road Bike 2022

Delivery prompt and well packaged. Bike excellent value. Literature ok but not brilliant. Instructions for use of computer abysmal. Yet to determine whether or not after sales service matches bike quality so cannot comment.

After being let down by another supplier, we came to the eBike Shop website. They had the bike we wanted in stock (we called ahead first to verify stock position, as a previous firm lied about its stock availability on its website) and they said they could deliver the next day. True to its word, the bike arrived well packaged and on time. All in all a great service from start to finish. My only gripe would be the big ebikeshop sticker along the black frame, which was not disclosed when buying and makes the bike look a bit like a rental (!!) but I will be removing this.

The Obea Gain D40 is a nice bike, handles well and has a decent range. I find it a lot heavier than my standard bike and it takes some getting used to, compared to a standard road bike, but it looks fabulous (mine is black, not green), with decent components. I would recommend it as a good, mid range option.

If there was a 4.5 award I would have given it. The bike arrived promptly, well packed and to my delight the indexing was spot on. Now for the BUT - it’s the headlight which despite prompt and courteous telephone support when trying to understand the wiring set up still doesn't work. Not a deal breaker, the bike rides really well and the supplied bike computer which gives another way of selecting the support levels was an unexpected bonus. Overall I’m really pleased but the difficulty wiring the front light is in my opinion an unwelcome niggle.
PS Fitting the bars ideally needs an extra pair of hands.
UPDATE: Having received some further help from e-bike shop (two photos) I corrected my dodgy wiring of the headlight and all is well so the review is now updated to 5 stars. I admit initial concerns about buying online but my experience and support has been top class.

Very happy with service from Ebikeshop, ordered on Thursday afternoon, delivered as promised on Monday. Very well packaged, minimal assembly, all parts present & correct, even included pedals & bell which was unexpected bonus. Setup by Ebikeshop exemplary, gears correctly indexed, brakes properly adjusted, tyres inflated to pressure. One phone call to resolve a wiring connection to the front light was handled quickly, gave battery a top-up charge, & good to go. Comes with the Orbea head unit which is very useful for shifting between power levels & monitoring battery level. Paired immediately with Garmin bike computer, & also installed the Mahle ebike app, which allows you to change the power modes, from Eco, Urban, Sport or customise your own. This means you can effectively extend the battery range by reducing the power output from 100%, which is very rarely required. My wife is very happy with the bike, I am less so, as she now drops me on every hill!
