New Features
Scott have developed a whole new breed of electric mountain bike, for 2017 fully integrating the new eMTB specific Shimano Steps system into one truly capable eBike.
When combined with Scott's exclusive TwinLoc system this means for one very well equipped trail bike!
The new Scott Spark's offer a tighter trail geometry and lower centre of gravity due to the new Shimano battery integration.
Scott have fitted a Custom X-Fusion Nude rear shock to the E-Spark 720 which offers 3 modes of lockout including Scott's special 'traction control' setting perfect for any eBike.
The X-Fusion shock also has full air adjust-ability and rebound damping controls. Inverted in the frame for optimum traction and minimal 'Pedal Bobbing'.
Interestingly, Scott eBikes also allow the user 2 stages for the shock to operate. The quick chip on the rear linkage can be flipped to the riders liking, offering a low & high BB setting depending on the terrain - offering full control on the 2017 Scott E-Spark electric bike.
Now with the new Shimano SLX 10 speed drive train, the 2017 SLX mech is crisper, easier to shift & lighter than ever before.
The Shimano Deore disc brakes offer similar characteristics to the SLX style brakes with servo action levers and larger calipers to offer good levels of braking and disperse heat efficiently.
PLUS. What's this all about? The new revelation hitting the cycling industry by storm is the 27.5+ tyres. These bridge the gap between regular MTB's and Fat eBikes to offer a wider 2.8" tyre for ultimate traction and grip, without compromising on rolling resistance, the E-Spark is equipped and ready to go!
For 2017 the wheels are built using Shimano front & rear hubs. These are laced onto strong yet lightweight Syncros X35 35mm wide 27.5+ alloy disc specific trail rims.
The E-Spark 720 Plus 2017 eBike is offered up with a combination of Maxxis Minion tyre up front & Rekon tyre at the rear. The wider 2.8" offering decent grip levels for cornering on the front wheel, while maintaining a fast rolling rear to keep you tight through the trails.
Don't forget these are extra wide and suck up a lot more of the bumps. Also due to the wider tyre and dual compound construction, these eBike tyres offer superior levels of grip over standard width tyres without compromising rolling resistance.
Up front we see the RockShox Sektor RL forks with 130mm of travel for all round trail use, these are of course fully air adjustable with rebound and damping controls also.
This adjustment is normally adjusted down on the forks / shock itself, but Scott have an exclusive remote TwinLoc lever design for the E-Spark 2017, mounted up on the handlebars.
Having control on the bars the rider can fully open or close both front and rear shocks without removing hands from the eBike bars. A special system indeed for maximum control.
The new Scott E-Spark 720 is the entry level model within the Shimano Steps range of eBikes. It's fairly well spec'd considering the price and offers a great way into electric mountain biking, particularly for Shimano fans. Want more? Check out the E-Spark 710 2017.
Shimano Steps E8000 eMTB System
Scott have worked closely with Shimano to develop and integrate their new 2017 Steps E8000 system into the new Scott E-Spark 720 Plus electric mountain bikes.
The new Shimano Steps system has been developed specifically around eMTBing and offers a long range 500Wh battery which Scott have fully integrated into the down tube offering stealth fitment and a lower centre of gravity. Alongside a newly developed 2017 MTB drive unit capable of assisting up to 70Nm of torque to the rider and operating up to high cadence RPM ranges.
The assistance outputs are adjustable as the rider can set and change the assistance mode whilst riding on the fly with 3 options – Eco, Trail & Boost visible on the LCD display panel.

This electric bike comes fully set-up by our workshop technicians. You can be sure that every aspect of the eBike has been dialled in for optimum performance. All our electric bikes arrive with a user manual, keys, charger & free follow up service within 3 months.
Our electric bikes also include a 5yr warranty on the frame, 2yr warranty on all the electrics & 1yr warranty on the components. In the event of a problem, we handle all warranty claims in-house. We can also offer worldwide support for customers further afield using a laptop or PC connected to the internet, combined with our diagnostic equipment.
E-bikeshop is a UK Shimano Electric Bike Service Center and our in house workshop is now exclusively reserved for our own eBike customers. We also have parts / spares to hand should they be required.
