The 2022 Haibike Trekking 4 eBike is one of the mid-range models in the Haibike trekking range for 2022 built with the new Yamaha PW-TE motor system and 500Wh InTube battery mounted in the frame.

Designed for road and light path use, it features the large volume "balloon" style tyres for comfort and comes equipped with essentials like lights, mudguards, pannier rack and a side stand.

Popular with leisure and commuters alike, this fast bike rolls well on roads and the hybrid tyre also takes well to light forest trails and gravel tracks. It also comes in three different frame variants, to account for all types of rider, and all levels of accessibility.

Functional power and value

This is the same for the rear wheel too, allowing the bike to fit into even a modest hatchback.

Brakes & Gears

Haibike have opted for the Alhonga HT474 hydraulic disc brakes. These are powerful and relatively maintenance free. Simple to use and easy to pull, they offer reach adjust so riders with bigger or smaller hands can adjust where the lever sits.

The gear system on the Trekking 4 is provided by Shimano for 2022. The Shimano Altus 9-speed rear mech provides plenty of gearing to the rider for a mix of ascending and descending.

The gears are controlled by a simple handlebar trigger that selects the gear up and down while pedalling to the riders preference.

Hydraulic brakes are the minimum we expect at e-Bikeshop and even on the entry level models, Haibike dont dissapoint.

Haibike Trekking 4 2022 Alivio Rear Mech

Shimano Altus 9 speed gearing is simple to use and offers a great ratio range for leisure riding.

Haibike Trekking 4 2022 Shimano Alivio Shifter

Wheels & Tyres

The 2022 Haibike Trekking 4 uses 27.5" (650B) wheels, optimising the benefits of both 26" & 29" wheels and combining them into one fast rolling, easy to manoeuvre wheel size.

Fitted with Continental Contact Urban tyres, the broader tyre profile absorbs rough terrain better and allows for more grip whilst maintaining a fast rolling resistance on the road.

The bottom line..

Haibike Trekking models are always popular with riders looking for a bike to cover a mix of town/city, commuting and leisure riding, with everything needed available "straight out of the box".

The Haibike Trekking 4 eBike is equipped with all the essentials including front/rear lights (Powered by the Yamaha eBike system itself), mudguards, a rear rack & side stand. Considering all of this and the German build quality, it's a well priced bike of this spec!

Who would have thought that a 74 year old

Who would have thought that a 74 year old living in the Highlands surrounded by lots of very steep braes would buy an e-bike. Certainly not me! That was until Covid19 came and brought with it lockdown which meant that I couldn't indulge in my usual activities but I am allowed to cycle and in my situation an e-bike seemed to offer the opportunity. So I bought a Haibike SDuro 4 2020 and I have to say that its amazing, the braes hardly matter (that includes some very steep ones) and I will be able to go biking with my grandkids when this lockdown is over. The bike is well engineered, easy to use and I recommend it to anyone thinking about purchasing an e-bike, stop thinking and just do it, even at my age it keeps you fit!

it takes all the worry and stress out

I definitely recommend e-bikeshop.co.uk for your electric bike, it takes all the worry and stress out of the process with great advice and helpful staff. After reading a few reviews on the e-bikeshop website I was convinced that an electric bike what was what I was looking for, the website is great with all the information you need, also helpful videos.
There is a lot to know about electric bikes so it’s great to get expert help. After a couple of brief phone calls with the staff at e-bikeshop I felt reassured that this was the right company to get my new Electric Bikes from. I couldn’t have been more right, I ordered 2 bikes and the next morning took delivery. I am over the moon with the bikes, they are top quality, ready built, and it’s easy to put the pedals on and crossbar, the tyres are fully pumped up and everything set up perfectly, after a short while all ready to hit the road. It is such a great ride and so easy going up hills or against the wind, every journey so stress free. I just love it and can’t wait to go and get my daily exercise. A very happy customer, thank you for a top notch e-bike and great service.

ve had my new sDuro for just a few

I've had my new sDuro for just a few days now but I have to say that I couldn't be more impressed. It has exceeded my expectations, and they were high. The bike is of very high quality and handles like a dream.
I must also thank e-bikeshop for the good communications, ease of ordering and delivery service which is first class.

250 miles in and time for a review on

250 miles in and time for a review on this pretty good bike

I have now had 3 e bikes. The First one was second hand Giant Twist bought
to see what the fuss was about. I had the battery refurbished and its still
going strong [must be 15 years old now] and is not restricted and despite
being a bit rickety, certainly not fashionable [looks like a Mary Poppins bike!]
its quite fun in London and gives a reasonable range; now 40 miles or so on
normal setting.

Then I bought an EMU Crossbar on the ride to work scheme and its been
okay but very heavy, especially if the battery runs out and despite being the
bigger battery I struggle to get 40 miles from it. BUT was good value at less
than £1000 new on ride to work scheme

So I went the whole hog and spent nearly £2k on the Haibike and in principle
I’m amazed at the difference. The old adage ’you get what you pay for’ seems
to be true in this case. God knows how good they are in the £4/5K bracket?
Here goes with a rambling review from a normal guy [sort of fit at 63 years
ols] who cycles 7 miles to work each day plus extra at the weekends [20/30
miles a day] and often to the gym in evenings; another 6 miles each way or
so. I’m not some mad fitness freak or fanatical cyclist but wanted a way to
not use the car and get a bit fitter, easily!

This bike was bought from e-bikeshop online. They were knowledgeable and
helpful and the price point was competitive. Delivery was super-fast, 24
hours max and on arrival it was well packaged, not damaged and looked fine.
A bit of assembly needed but anyone with any brain could do it. All tools
needed were supplied.
However, on the first ride, the crank squeaked like hell. It was not pedals or
crank arms, so I assumed it was the crank itself. It was not; having checked
carefully it turned out the motor mount, internally, was loose and once
tightened, it was and still is, fine. BUT that should have been checked before
delivery as it was a hassle to sort and involved some skinned knuckles!
The ride

It was worth the hassle of putting it together . It moves well as its pretty light
[for an e bike], easy to pedal in Tour mode [you don’t need anymore
assistance than Tour, although there are another 3 modes] and does exactly
what it says on the tin. I live in York most of the time, which is relatively flat
and in Tour mode with saddlebags etc on I reckon on average its doing some
50 miles, a time, on a charge, possibly a bit more. Unlike the EMU, if the
battery ran out its pretty easy to pedal as a normal bike; a blessing when this
happens and makes it easy to save the battery life.
The e controls are excellent, easy to use and simple to understand.
It takes luggage well but it would be great if it came with essential stuff like
lights and bell out of the box [minor complaint, as I scavenged all the stuff off
my old bikes and fitted them on this one]
No water bottle mount but again minor issue

I swopped the tyres from the semi knobblies supplied to smooth[ish] road
tyres, as I’m not an off roader [other than gravel cycle paths]and they make a
world of difference in speed/agility and comfort plus adding another 5 miles
of range or so. It rewards someone who wants to put in some effort as
pedalling hard feels good and makes the help feel invisible, so great to get
fitter without killing yourself

I won’t go into detail re charging as they are all much of a much but its robust
and works and what more could I ask for?
Seat is comfortable and the finish generally is great and it looks good into the
bargain. Possibly too good as thieves will potentially target it .Security is an
issue for expensive bikes and I’m always surprised that with all the tech out
there is no way of say finger printing the controller [like a smartfone] and
clearly signing it so its of no real interest to thieves! BUT as it is buy a very
good lock!

Only real issue is quality of suspension fork. Its ok when in suspension mode
Not perfect but rides over most potholes etc. I doubt it would be much use
on serious off road however. Its on lock out that the issue arises. If set as
solid the fork is awful and clunks and feels like it’s going to collapse on

anything other than a very smooth surface. Shame, as it lets down what is
otherwise a great bike.

The big question is, as a normal rider would I buy this again if I had the
chance? Its way better than both my other e bikes ; It feels ‘normal’ it rides
well and feels very well built [except that front fork; I would have paid £50
more for a better fork!] BUT at this price point the answer is ……..YES .I would
choose it again. None of the issues mentioned above are deal breakers but
rather niggles and for me as a ‘normal’ cyclist, whatever that may be, it has
been so far a great bike for commuting and general use and its in use
virtually every day to go to work.

So from a 63 year old, 90 kilo guy it gets a thumbs up as a good buy
