Who is this bike suitable for?
The new E-Genius range is now powered by the Shimano Steps powerhouse for 2018. The E-Genius 720 is the base-spec eBike in the 2018 range built on 150mm travel for single track, all mountain and enduro riding. The perfect UK trail centre companion.
With a sweetly designed frame and motor, the SCOTT E-Genius also boasts worthy wheel size versatility and top-notch handling. While the 2018’s climbing remains on a par with its predecessor, SCOTT have made serious gains on the descending ability of this bike. New Features
Built on the popular Genius 150mm travel platform and geometry, Scott have redefined this bike for 2018 with integral battery and Shimano's eMTB specific drive.
When combined with Scott's exclusive TwinLoc system this means for one very well equipped 720 Plus 2018 trail eBike!
The new Scott Genius offer a tighter trail geometry and lower centre of gravity due to the new Shimano battery integration.
Scott have fitted a Custom X-Fusion Nude rear shock to the E-Genius 720 which offers 3 modes of lockout including Scott's special 'traction control' setting perfect for any eBike.
The X-Fusion shock also has full air adjust-ability and rebound damping controls. Inverted in the frame for optimum traction and minimal 'Pedal Bobbing'.
The E-Genius 2018 electric bike range are 27.5+ wheeled as standard. But Scott have built the bike to handle 29" wheels also. Simply just swap the wheels out and flip the chip in the rear shock mount which alters the BB height depending on which wheel you insert. You can run up to 2.8" tyres on 27.5+ wheels or up to 2.6" on 29'er wheels. Neat huh?
A big update on the Genius 720 for 2018 is the new Sram NX system offering the same same smooth and reliable shifting of it's bigger brother with the 12 tooth X-SYNC pulley wheels.
The X-HORIZON design reduces chain slap and the shifting force offering a smooth reliable setup.
You'll notice the new huge 11 speed cassette which offers an incredible 11 to 42t setup meaning this is a huge range for climbing and descending on an electric mountain bike!
Scott also equip the Genius 720 with a remote dropper post with internal cable routing for stealth looks.
The saddle can be raised and lowered by the flick of a switch on the handlebars for all trail ascending and descending.
Scott has built the wheels for the Genius 720 on Shimano boost, through axle hubs for ultimate stiffness and control. Combine this with a set of Syncros 30mm wide tubeless ready rims, keeps things rolling fast.
The wider 2.8" offering decent grip levels for cornering on the front wheel, while maintaining a fast rolling rear to keep you tight through the trails. Don't forget these are extra wide and suck up a lot more of the bumps.
The Shimano Deore disc brakes offer similar characteristics to the SLX style brakes with servo action levers and larger calipers to offer good levels of braking and disperse heat efficiently.
The E-Genius 720 2018 eBike is offered up with a combination of Maxxis Minion front and rear specific tyres.
Due to the wider tyre and dual compound construction, these eBike tyres offer superior levels of grip over standard width tyres without compromising rolling resistance.
The E-Genius 720 comes as standard with the RockShox Recon RL forks with 150mm travel and are fully air adjustable.
For the front and rear shock, the lever is normally located on the shock / fork itself, meaning the rider has to bend down whilst riding to make the adjustment.
Scott have created an exclusive remote TwinLoc lever design for the E-Genius, mounted up on the handlebars. Both front forks & rear shock are adjusted at the same time via 3 modes.
The entry level model in the E-Genius Shimano Steps powered electric mountain bikes for 2018. The 720 offers great value for money with many of the characteristics of it's 2 bigger brothers but it's much easier on the wallet. Shimano Steps E8000 eMTB System
Scott have worked closely with Shimano to develop and integrate their new 2018 Steps E8000 system into the new Scott E-Genius 720 Plus electric mountain bikes.
The new Shimano Steps system has been developed specifically around eMTBing and offers a long range 500Wh battery which Scott have fully integrated into the Genius 720 Plus down tube offering stealth fitment and a lower centre of gravity. Alongside a newly developed 2018 MTB drive unit capable of assisting up to 70Nm of torque to the rider and operating up to high cadence RPM ranges.
The assistance outputs are adjustable as the rider can set and change the assistance mode whilst riding on the fly with 3 options – Eco, Trail & Boost visible on the LCD display panel.

This electric bike comes fully set-up by our workshop technicians. You can be sure that every aspect of the eBike has been dialled in for optimum performance. All our electric bikes arrive with a user manual, keys, charger & free follow up service within 3 months.
Our electric bikes also include a 5yr warranty on the frame, 2yr warranty on all the electrics & 1yr warranty on the components. In the event of a problem, we handle all warranty claims in-house. We can also offer worldwide support for customers further afield using a laptop or PC connected to the internet, combined with our diagnostic equipment.
E-bikeshop is a UK Shimano Electric Bike Service Center and our in house workshop is now exclusively reserved for our own eBike customers. We also have parts / spares to hand should they be required.
