This Raleigh Motus electric bike is perfect for everyday riding, its unique features and 700c wheel mean that it’s a good contender looking for a Commuting / Trekking / Hybrid bike. Raleigh UK has joined forces with the renowned Bosch eBike system to create the ultimate high quality electric bike at a price that has to be taken seriously here in the UK for 2017.
This bike is everything I was hoping from an electric bike, after visiting the cycle show and months of reading ebike reviews I was a bit nervous of spending suh a lot of money. However after my first cycle ride on the Raleigh Motus I am 100% convinced that I have chosen the best bike for me and I love it. In summary, I couldn't be happier!..
New Features
Raleigh UK have teamed up with the German manufacturers Bosch to create a well specified Europe built crank drive bike.
The Shimano hydraulic disc brakes ensure the Motus comes to a stop where needed, with good braking performance and minimal maintenance.
Whilst we are on maintenance, aside from keeping it clean and oiling the chain from time to time, there is not actually that much else too it!
The Raleigh Motus comes fully equipped with all the practical functions you would expect. Raleigh have opted to offer a bike that you needn't add any extras. Well, maybe a helmet and a nice set of pannier bags?..
Hub Gear or 10spd Derailleur Version?
This is the 8 Speed Hub Gear Raleigh Motus, hub gears are best for long flatter terrain, they offer a range of gears with minimal fuss. Both up and downhill you'll have enough gears for everyday riding, for steeper hills, you'd be better on the 10spd version as this will give a little more range.
Hub gears benefit from a user friendly system, the controls are easy to navigate (just up and down) and they also benefit from being very low maintenance. Because the chain does not move, it doesn't wear the same and there is little wear on the sprockets. Thus, not needing for frequent changes of the chain and/or sprockets.
This Motus model features a 8 speed gear system, provided by Shimano, this neat 8 Speed Internal Nexus gear hub offers silky smooth shifting while maintaining a completely straight chain line.
It works in harmony with the Bosch eBike drive system and offers a reliable maintenance free solution.
To glide you over some of the bumpier roads / terrain are Suntour's front suspension fork with 63mm of travel and a lock out function.
Also the comfort Selle Royal saddle is supported with a suspension seat post to take the edge of harsher bumps through the back end of this eBike.
All in all a really well thought out electric bike. European build, German Bosch crank drive reliability, fully equipped with all you could want with the added bonus of a concealed hub gear. Well done Raleigh on this British design! This really does bridge the gap between cheaper more rattly 'far east' models and the European build quality and reliability.
Bosch Active Line System
The new Raleigh Motus 2017 eBikes also feature the latest Bosch Active crank drive motor, so you can be sure it's fitted with the latest kit and setup for optimum performance.
This system outputs 48Nm of torque & peaks at 500w! It certainly packs a punch, it also offers up to 225% assistance on turbo mode, while Eco mode offers a more subtle 50% assistance. There are 4 levels of assistance and remember you can always turn it off completely and ride it as a normal bike!
This machine rolls just the same as a normal cycle. In fact the quality in the design, geometry & build make it a true performer! The Raleigh Motus electric bike features the Bosch 400Wh PowerPack Battery so it hosts the most range possible on a Bosch powered eBike.

Whats included?
This bike comes fully set-up by our workshop technicians. You can be sure that every aspect of the eBike has been dialled in for optimum performance. All our electric bikes arrive with a user manual, keys, charger & free follow up service within 3 months.
Our electric bikes also include a 5yr warranty on the frame, 2yr warranty on all the electrics & 1yr warranty on the components. In the event of a problem, we handle all warranty claims in-house. We can also offer worldwide support for customers further afield using a laptop or PC connected to the internet, combined with our diagnostic equipment.
E-bikeshop is a UK Bosch Electric Bike Service Center and our in house workshop is now exclusively reserved for our own eBike customers. We also have parts / spares to hand should they be required.
