Orbea Rise Electric Bikes

Orbea Rise Electric Mountain Bikes

Orbea's Rise electric mountain bike range represents a paradigm shift in trail riding, emphasising agility and performance.

The Orbea Rise electric bikes are a “light‑e‑MTB” that cleverly blends the agility and fun of a traditional trail bike with the boost of an electric‑assist motor — and it pulls that off better than most. With a smartly integrated Shimano motor and battery, a compact, lightweight frame and refined suspension setup (usually around 140 mm rear travel / 140–150 mm front, depending on SL or LT versions), the Orbea Rise delivers agile handling, confident climbing and playful trail manners.

With a remarkably lightweight design, these e-bikes defy conventional expectations, seamlessly blending electric assistance with nimble handling. Whether you’re climbing steep trails, tackling technical singletrack or bombing down flowy descents, the Rise feels much closer to a regular mountain bike than “big heavy e‑bike.”

Their carbon or hydroformed frames and sophisticated motors deliver unparalleled power-to-weight ratios, propelling riders uphill with ease while retaining the thrill of descents. Tailored for off-road adventures, they boast customizable settings and robust components for technical trails. Under the skin, the Rise uses a tuned motor setup (via the “RS” software of the drive system) — which delivers up to around 85 Nm of torque, giving solid pedal‑assist for climbs without overwhelming the lightweight feel.

Meanwhile, battery options (internal 420 Wh or 630 Wh, often with a small orbea rise range‑extender available) let you pick between maximum agility or longer ride range, depending on what you need that day. It’s this balance — power + lightness + geometry — that makes the Rise a great choice for riders who want a do‑everything trail e‑MTB without the bulk or weight of a full‑powered enduro rig. The official Rise series redefines electric mountain biking, offering a thrilling yet sustainable experience that preserves the essence of trail riding, setting new benchmarks for lightweight, powerful, and eco-conscious performance on rugged terrain.

The Orbea Rise is a riding revolution. In a market of heavy, insane power monster bikes with 85+Nm of torque and weighing as much as 30Kg, the Rise is the bike for those who don't want or need top end power and the weight associated with it. The Rise suits those who want something to flatten out the hills but still leave a bike nimble enough for those super fast flowing single track escapes. Fitter, more technical riders will make the best use of the Rise platform where rider skill, fitness and efficiency is continually rewarded through power which mirrors the riders own efforts.

Rise uses a tuned system (from Shimano) under what Orbea calls the “RS” configuration — giving smooth, natural pedal‑assist up to about 85 Nm of torque. Battery options include internal 420 Wh or 630 Wh setups; you can even add a small range‑extender battery if you want longer rides.

Typical Rise builds feature around 140 mm rear travel, and either 140 mm (in SL versions) or up to 150–160 mm front travel (in LT / long‑travel versions) — giving a nice balance between trail agility and downhill capacity. The geometry is tuned to feel more like a nimble mountain bike than a bulky e‑MTB, which helps with maneuverability and “ride‑feel.”

The Rise is broken down into 7 distinct models. Four of them (with names starting with "M") have carbon frames, and the other 3 starting with H (for "Hydroformed") have alloy frames. The Carbon range starts with the M20, riding to the M10, then the M-Team and finishing with the range topping M-Ltd, equipped with only the very best in componentry. On the alloy frames, the H30 is the entry level with the H20 in the middle of it and the top end H10. As you go up through the models, the specification of brakes, gears and suspension along with transitions from alloy to carbon wheels, bars and other components increases the price.

Yes — the tuned motor with up to 85 Nm torque gives you enough assist to handle steep climbs and tough terrain, while the lightweight frame helps maintain control.

That’s one of Rise’s strengths: it feels much closer to a traditional trail bike thanks to its weight, geometry and balance — but with the benefit of electric assist when you need it.

The best Rise for each rider depends on their budget and riding skill level. While the top end M-Ltd is an incredible machine and the lightest of them all, its silly as a new rider to spend top end money if you're a "middling" rider. A great rule of thumb for picking an electric mountain bike is to take an honest look at your skills as a rider and the specification you need to carry on riding as you are and then look slightly above to build in a little headroom for progression. We know from having sold the Rise in all forms and generations that not only does the M10 generally offer the best value, its specification level normally make it the right bike for more than 50% of riders and only the most skilled riders need to consider anything more.

Depending on battery size (420 Wh or 630 Wh), terrain, assist level and rider effort, Rise is capable of significant climbs and long rides. With the larger battery and conservative use of assist, you can get substantial range for full‑day outings.

Not necessarily — with Rise the idea is balance: lighter setup gives better handling and a more “bike‑like” feel, while the motor still gives enough assist for most climbs. If you need more range, the higher-capacity battery or extender option gives flexibility.

Yes — for many riders Rise represents a sweet spot: a light, balanced, capable e‑MTB that doesn’t overcommit to “enduro heavy” but still performs well in a wide range of riding conditions. If you want a single bike for mixed‑trail, all‑day rides, climbing and descending — with electric‑assist — it’s a strong candidate.
