New 2027 Bosch eBike Updates for Electric Bikes

2027 Bosch E-Bike Updates: Everything you need to know..

By Ben Mowbray |

Bosch has maintained its position at the forefront of the e-bike industry by treating its drive systems not as isolated components, but as a fully integrated ecosystem. While competitors often chase isolated metrics like peak torque, Bosch focuses on holistic performance, ensuring their motors, batteries, and smart displays communicate seamlessly to deliver a natural, intuitive ride feel. Say hello to the 2027 line-up!

2027 Bosch electric bike system key takeaways:

Technologically, they continuously pioneer over-the-air updates via the eBike Flow app, transforming electric bike hardware purchases into future-proof investments that improve over time. This includes cutting-edge security features like digital lock systems and GPS tracking, alongside advanced safety tech like eBike ABS (anti-lock braking system).

Before any drive system reaches the market, it undergoes rigorous laboratory and real-world testing - enduring extreme temperatures, moisture, and vibration. This obsession with quality is backed by a massive, global network of certified dealers and diagnostic tools. If something does go wrong, riders aren't left stranded.

Bike shops worldwide have direct access to Bosch parts, training, and software support. By pairing relentless technological innovation with unmatched global service, Bosch ensures that their systems remain the industry gold standard for years to come.

The Complete 2027 Bosch E-Bike Line Up

Bosch has been busy. Over the last two months, they’ve rolled out what is arguably their most significant wave of hardware and software updates in years. They haven't just refined their existing line-up - they're entirely new categories in 2027.

From their first-ever rear hub motor designed for the modern urban commuter to major over-the-air firmware upgrades that push performance to new limits, here is everything you need to know about the latest innovations from Bosch eBike Systems.

All-New Motors: Entering the Hub Game

For years, Bosch has dominated the mid-drive motor market. Now, they are bringing their Smart System ecosystem to the rear wheel. Historically Bosch have only ever focussed on mid-motor systems. This is big news for Bosch electric bikes!

The Bosch Hub Line (BDU306Y)

The biggest news for 2027 is the launch of the Hub Line - Bosch’s first-ever rear hub motor. Designed specifically for lightweight city, commuter, and lifestyle e-bikes, it completely changes the silhouette of a Bosch-powered bike.

Bosch eBike Hub Line Motor 2027

By moving the motor to the rear hub, bikes can have a cleaner, more minimalist design without a bulky bottom bracket.

  • The Specs: It weighs just 2.3 kg and delivers 45Nm of torque with a peak power of 400W.

  • The Ride: It provides an incredibly natural ride feel. Crucially, it decouples completely above 25 km/h, meaning there is zero motor drag when you are riding under your own power.

  • Smart Integration: Despite being a hub motor, it fully integrates with the Bosch Smart System, meaning you get access to the eBike Flow app, navigation, theft protection, and over-the-air updates.

We're super excited about this one at E-Bikeshop - Bosch launching a hub motor for 2027 bikes, paves the way for some of our manufacturers to bring back some for their lightest weight leisure and commuting bikes powered by the industries most desirable brand.

Active Line Plus Update (BDU344Y)

Bosch hasn't forgotten its mid-drive roots for 2027. The beloved Active Line Plus mid-drive motor has received a major overhaul for urban and leisure riders. It is now smaller, significantly quieter, and roughly 500 grams lighter (now sitting at about 2.7 kg).

Despite the weight loss, torque has increased from 50Nm to 60Nm, giving you a bit more punch off the line and up steep city hills.

Sleeker Power: New Batteries & Faster Charging

To complement the minimalist 2027 Hub Line, Bosch had to rethink their battery dimensions. Bringing new battery technology in slimmer, lighter batteries whilst offering faster charging options at the same time.

PowerTube 360 & PowerTube 720

The new PowerTube 360 (BBP383Y) is the slimmest in-tube battery Bosch has ever produced. Measuring just 68mm in width and weighing 2.1 kg, it allows bike manufacturers to design frames that look almost exactly like traditional, non-assisted bicycles. Despite its size, it holds 360Wh, providing a reliable range of over 80 km for urban commuting.

For those needing massive range, Bosch also launched the PowerTube 720 (BBP387Y). It shares the same dimensions as the rest of the larger PowerTube family but packs 720Wh into a 3.9 kg package, pushing maximum ranges up to 185 km.

The 12A Fast Charger (BPC3041)

If you hate waiting for your battery to charge, the new 12A Charger is a game-changer. Using modern gallium nitride (GaN) technology, it pumps out 500W of power while remaining compact and lightweight (roughly 2 lbs). This will land in early 2027.

It can charge a massive 800Wh PowerTube to 50% in just one hour—making it the fastest charger in the Smart System line-up for 2027.

Control & Security: Displays and ConnectModule

Bosch has streamlined the cockpit with new controls and displays and beefed up security for 2027. So you can leave your bike parked with peace of mind using the new Connect Module for added security.

Bosch eBike Connect Module LED Controller Intuvia 200 and SmartPhone Grip 2027

  • ConnectModule (BCM3101): The ultimate theft protection just got better. The new ConnectModule now features its own easily replaceable internal battery. It uses GPS, mobile communications, and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to track your bike precisely - even in basements or back gardens where standard GPS fails. It acts as an alarm and a tracker, communicating directly with the Flow app.

  • LED Controller (BRC3610): This new compact control unit is 65% smaller than the old LED Remote and will eventually replace it. It features five ergonomic buttons, LED indicators for your battery and ride mode, and a built-in USB-C port (delivering 10W) so you can charge your smartphone while you ride.

  • Intuvia 200 (BHU3210): A new, permanently mounted display. By keeping it bolted down, it’s one less thing you have to take off the bike when locking up outside a cafe. It boasts a clean, modern design and is perfectly legible in bright sunlight.

  • Smartphone Grip Vertical (BSP3300): If you prefer using the Flow app as your display, the new Smartphone Grip Vertical holds your phone securely in portrait mode. It supports wireless charging and wired USB-C charging directly from your e-bike’s main battery.

Major 2027 Bosch Software Upgrades

Alongside the June hardware drops, Bosch released "Performance Upgrade 2.0" over-the-air in May. This free firmware update brought massive improvements to existing Smart System bikes.

Bosch eBike 2027 Software Upgrades

  • The 120Nm Performance Upgrade: If you have a Performance Line CX or CX-R motor, you can now unlock up to 120Nm of torque (up from 85Nm/100Nm) and up to 600% motor support at low speeds (under 15 km/h). This is designed for aggressive, technical eMTB climbing, giving you instant power exactly when you need to clear steep, punchy obstacles.

  • Trick Check: For the riders who like to get some air, the system can now automatically recognise and record the duration, height, distance, and angle of your jumps, wheelies, manuals, and stoppies. Meaning those more adventurous riders can track all their skills directly on the display. Bring on those tricks!

  • eShift Integration: Bosch's electronic shifting system, eShift, has been updated for 2027 and is now fully compatible with the new Hub Line. It ensures smooth, automatic gear changes, meaning you can stop at a traffic light and the bike will automatically shift into the perfect starting gear.

2027 Bosch eBike Flow App Upgrades

The Bosch eBike Flow app has had a number of updates alongside the 2027 hardware updates. These upgrades to the Bosch eBike Flow app come from user demand and include:

Bosch eBike Flow App Software Updates 2027

  • Adjustable Extended Boost: The overrun feature which keeps the motor pushing for a fraction of a second after you stop pedalling to help clear roots and rocks is now fully customisable. You can use a slider in the Flow app to adjust the residual boost up to 2 meters for different riding modes.

  • Heart Rate Statistics: Riders can now monitor their heart rate during activities and analyse it within the Bosch eBike Flow app once the ride is over to make training even more effective for 2027.

  • Live Data Interface: Bosch has finally opened its API for 2027. You can now connect third-party devices - like Garmin Edge bike computers or fitness watches - directly to your e-bike via Bluetooth. Your heart rate, rider power output, and system battery levels can all display on your favourite GPS computer.

  • Save Favourites: You can now save all your favourite places within the Bosch eBike flow app as part of the 2027 updates. This could be your workplace, when you come across the ultimate trail or find a spectacular view. Once saved in the app you can revisit those places, something users have been asking for.

What do we think of the Bosch eBike 2027 Updates?

The 2027 Bosch eBike updates bring a massive leap forward for urban riders and lightweight electric bikes as well as some great feature updates for electric mountain bike owners old and new. By launching their new rear-wheel Hub Line motor alongside the slim PowerTube 360 battery, Bosch is finally answering the demand for stealthy commuters. Here at E-Bikeshop, we love seeing this practical shift toward agile bikes that don't weigh a ton.

While recent software upgrades focused heavily on extreme eMTB performance, this Bosch hardware release balances the scales perfectly. The updated Active Line Plus motor and simplified Intuvia 200 display allow manufacturers to create incredibly tailored, rider-focused setups. This means our shop floor will soon feature a wider variety of super-reliable bikes built specifically for daily commuting and touring.

Bosch continues to prove why they're the industry benchmark by building an ecosystem that genuinely works for every type cyclist. We're excited to get these 2027 Bosch models in stock and put them to the test in the real world.
