The Ultimate Guide to the 2027 Orbea Wild LT & Wild TR - The best DJI Avinox bike yet?
By Ben Mowbray |
Welcome to the new benchmark in eMTB - the 2027 Orbea WILD LT has officially raised the bar for DJI Avinox powered bikes and at E-Bikeshop we couldn't be more excited to share the exclusive details with you. For the upcoming season, the legendary Orbea Wild isn't just getting an update; it's evolving into two distinct, purpose-built beasts: the gravity-crushing Wild LT and the trail-taming Wild TR.
Whether you're seeking downhill race-level capability or looking to maximise your everyday trail riding, Orbea has designed a version of the Wild that is engineered to be the very best in its class. Because whatever question the trail poses, the answer is always yes.
Part 1: The Orbea Wild LT (Gravity & Enduro)
For riders looking for uncompromising downhill performance fused with the relentless capability of a full-power e-MTB, the Wild LT is the ultimate answer. Boasting up to 170/180mm of gravity-oriented kinematics, the Wild LT is effectively the e-bike equivalent of Orbea’s World Cup-proven Rallon.

Light on Weight, Not on Performance
Low, stable, and fast. If the new Wild looks like it's come straight from the race track, it's because it has. Orbea asked themselves how to improve a legend, and their answer was to refine it on the racetrack, focusing on performance in every single detail.

The new 2027 Orbea Wild is the ultimate in performance, both uphill and downhill; it isn’t just an evolution, it’s a massive step forward. By keeping the weight incredibly low and central, the bike remains remarkably calm as speed. This philosophy is backed by an arsenal of downhill-developed geometry and kinematics:
-
Gravity Kinematics: Riders can choose between 170/170mm or a massive 170/180mm of travel. The leverage ratio is designed to be highly progressive but predictable, resulting in lower pedal kickback and a significantly more active suspension feel.
-
Race-Ready Geometry: Built around premium OMR Carbon or High Polish Alloy, the Wild features a low standover height and short 155mm cranks to maximise clearance.
-
Steep 'n' Deep: Lower saddles mean faster bikes. The frame is optimised to allow for incredibly long dropper posts across all sizes.
-
Total Adjustability: Riders can fine-tune their ride via a High/Low flip chip and an advanced ZS56 headset standard that allows for precise angle or reach adjustments.
-
Incredible Weight: Despite being a full-power, gravity-ready machine, the Wild LT tips the scales at below 21kg.
-
Choose Your Stance: The frame accommodates either a full 29" setup* or a mixed-wheel "Mullet" configuration. (*E-Bikeshop will be stocking the LT in Mullet only because for the last two model years, this is where over 80% of our demand has been. The 29/29 configuration will be available from us but with a short lead time from the factory).
Endless Power, Superior Control
While others settle for raw, unmanageable power, Orbea's proprietary RS Tune prioritises control and traction, delivering a deeply enhanced riding experience. The RS motor tune meticulously optimises power delivery for better grip and 4x faster responses to your input than other Avinox equipped bikes, creating a more direct feel on the trail.

Driven by the RS Control System and RS Power, Orbea has completely redefined eMTB riding dynamics.
-
The Powerhouse: The Avinox M2S motor pushes a continuous 750W and 130Nm of torque.
-
Superboost: Need to clear an impossible technical feature? A legislative Superboost option unlocks up to 1300W and 150Nm of torque for a pre-set time of up to 60 seconds.
-
Big Range, Fast Charging: Riders have the choice of massive 600Wh or 800Wh batteries, paired with either a 4A or a rapid 12A charger.
-
Climbing Dominance: This tuned output creates best-in-class climbing performance by perfectly balancing reactivity and traction, while simultaneously minimising wear on components.
Why Did Orbea Choose Avinox?
To build the best bike, you need the best canvas. Integrating the DJI Avinox motor was a highly strategic decision by Orbea's engineers, built on four pillars of performance:
-
Suspension Optimisation: The size of the Avinox motor lets Orbea position the suspension pivots in the optimal position, allowing Orbea to bring the Rallon suspension performance to new Wild LT.
-
Center of Gravity: The motor and battery package has allowed them to lower the center of gravity and standover height. The result is improved handling and more space to move over the bike.
-
Firmware Freedom: Having access to the motor firmware gives Orbea greater freedom to create a riding experience that is uniquely Orbea, where the motor reacts faster and becomes an extension of the rider.
-
The RS Control System: Having access to the proprietary firmware allowed them to add the RS Control System, removing distractions, adding functionality and ultimately increasing the connection between the rider and the ride - this is exclusive to the Wild LT and not available from any other manufacturer.

The RS Tune: A Deeper Dive
What exactly makes the RS Tune so revolutionary? It comes down to Orbea rethinking how an eMTB should apply power to the dirt.
-
Reactivity is Key: With standard motors, response can feel delayed. Orbea has significantly improved this with the RS Tuned versions of the Avonix motor, delivering a 4x faster (than other Avinox equipped bikes), more precise reaction for technical riding. Support arrives exactly when needed, making control easier and movements like lifting the front wheel more natural.
-
High Torque, Controlled Power: It's torque that's important for getting up steep or technical climbs but without control, its useless. High Torque with controlled power allows better performance on technical climbs without excessive battery use.
-
The Triple Benefit: Controlling maximum power does three things: it improves traction and improves range, lets them make the motor more reactive, and limits drivetrain wear.
The RS Quick Look:
- Unique: Orbea is the only brand who are tuning the motor.
- Proprietary: Users can’t access these characteristics.
-
Relevant: There are real performance improvements, and ride experience enhancements with this tune.
RS is Key for the Wild
Everything culminates in the RS Ecosystem. Because the Wild LT features the only tuned Avinox motor on the market, riders get improved technical climbing, better battery life and longer component life.

This ecosystem includes the heavily praised RS HMI controller and the smart MC10-RS seatpost, which together bring entirely new functionality to e-bike riding. Combine this intelligent electronic integration with the countless DH trophy winning handling of the Orbea Rallon—including a low frame and active suspension kinematics—and from design concept to bike, the result is simple: the best handling enduro focused eMTB on the market. Period.
The Ultimate eMTB Showdown: Wild LT vs The Competition
When you stack the Orbea Wild LT against the heaviest hitters in the industry, the data speaks for itself.
As seen in the benchmark data, the Wild LT pulls ahead in almost every measurable category:
-
Motor Integration: While bikes like the Santa Cruz Bullit rely on the standard Bosch CX, the Wild LT uses the cutting-edge Avinox M2S.
-
Proprietary Tech: Against competitors like the YT Decoy X, Amflow PR Carbon Pro, and Pivot Shuttle AMP'd, the Wild LT is the only bike offering a proprietary motor tune and a smart dropper system.
-
Customisation: None of the competitors listed offer the ability to configure components or custom-select paint colours. The Wild LT allows total configuration.
-
Geometry & Capability: The Wild is DH Proven, offers adjustable geometry, fits long droppers, and hits the scales at a highly competitive weight starting around 20kg.

Part 2: The Orbea Wild TR (Trail Slayer)
Some trails demand everything you have, and some days ask for more. With Wild TR, nothing holds you back. Not every rider needs 170mm of travel, but many still want the power and reliability of a full-power system. Enter the Wild TR.
Designed to bring out the best in every trail, the naturally confident Wild TR encourages you to push harder and enjoy every moment. Striking the balance for real-world riding, it pairs 150 mm of supple, trail-tuned suspension with the power of Bosch’s Performance Line CX motor.
Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5
Rather than the Avinox system, the Wild TR utilises Bosch's latest Gen 5 Performance Line CX motor.
-
Trail Power: This system is optimised to deliver 750W of power and 120Nm of torque, supported by upgraded sensors that mean more control.
-
Massive Range: The TR comes with a 750Wh battery, with a lighter 600Wh option available. It is also fully compatible with a 250Wh Range Extender for massive rides.
-
Displays: Alloy TR models come with an integrated display (BOSCH BRC3100 as default, Kiox 300 optional), while OMR Carbon models offer the KIOX 400C.
Wild TR vs. The Trail Competition
Stacked against the Santa Cruz Vala, Scott Patron 900, Pivot Shuttle AM, Cube Stereo Hybrid One44, and Canyon Spectral On, the Wild TR holds a distinct advantage. It is the only bike in its bracket to offer full factory customisation of components and paint colours.
Part 3: Shared DNA – "Built for Abuse"
Whether you choose the LT or the TR, both platforms share Orbea’s obsessive approach to chassis design and durability. Ride after ride after ride, enjoy a quiet, reliable bike with gravity-ready components and durable design throughout.
-
Suspension: The LT is spec'd with the burly Fox 38 fork, while the TR utilizes the Fox 36.+
-
Protection: The frames feature an upgraded frame protector and integral elements like the "Second Skin" wrap to defend against rock strikes.
-
Wheels & Tyres: You'll find OQUO MC32 Power wheels wrapped in Maxxis EXO+ and DoubleDown (DD) tyres, or Schwalbe's Gravity casings for maximum puncture resistance.
-
Bearings: Both frames feature fully sealed bearings for maximum longevity.
Part 4: The Orbea MyO Platform – Make it Yours
We saved the best for last. One of the main reasons the Orbea Wild is the premium choice on the market is the Orbea MyO platform.
While other premium brands restrict you to one or two factory colours, the MyO platform allows you to custom paint your Wild for absolutely free. Want a stealthy matte finish? Done. A vibrant, dual-tone gloss? Easy. You design it online, and Orbea's artisans paint it by hand in their factory in Spain.

But it doesn't stop at paint. MyO lets you take advantage of cut-price component upgrades straight from the factory. You can swap out your tyres, upgrade your suspension setup, choose your preferred brakes, or tweak your ergonomics before the bike even leaves the assembly line.
Because these bikes are built entirely to your exact specifications, it normally takes around 6-8 weeks from order to delivery. The result, however, is a totally unique, perfectly dialed, one-of-a-kind eMTB that is 100% yours - you can even have your name painted into the frame!
