First Look: Orbea WILD FS Electric Mountain Bikes 2020

Orbea invited us out to Spain to check out the brand new range of 2020 Orbea Wild FS electric mountain bikes. Now featuring carbon frames and the new Bosch eBike Gen 4 motor setup.

Newly designed for 2020, Orbea launch a brand new series of electric mountain bikes. The Orbea Wild 2020 eBikes feature the latest generation of Bosch eBike motors and a brand new carbon fibre platform.

Not only have Orbea completely redesigned the Wild FS geometry and kinematics, but they've built in a whole new host of features too!

To complement the geometry, Orbea has fitted larger rolling 29" wheels & shorter 160mm cranks. The new 29" wheelbase means the 2020 Wild FS rolls fast & manoeuvres over terrain easily. The shorter 160mm cranks increase ground clearance & reduce pedal impacts too.

New for 2020 the Orbea Wild eMTB features a 625Wh battery. Plus the option of fitting a smaller 400Wh or 500Wh battery, by use of a special adaptor plate.

Not only can you opt for a smaller capacity battery, but you can also expand it too by adding a 500Wh frame-mounted battery. Using Orbea's special new range extender option, bringing the total capacity up to over 1100Wh.

Orbea has built into the Wild FS 2020 eBikes a 'BlockLock' headset, which protects the Wild FS frame by preventing the fork crown from impacting. This not only protects the carbon frame but keeps the cables safe from bar spins too.

Other cool features include a special display mount. Custom designed by Orbea, the user can opt for 3 different display mounting options. This gives total control to the rider and a key holder built into the stem top cap, handy!

All the Orbea Wild eBikes we mention below have a brand new carbon fibre frame, new Bosch Performance CX motor system & the larger capacity 625Wh Bosch battery. Let's take a look:

2020 Line up of Carbon Wild FS eBikes

The 2020 Wild FS eBikes are built for all-terrain, all-mountain, single track & trail riding on a great geometry platform. It's tough enough for more demanding trails with its 160mm travel, yet light enough for cross-country too. With 29" wheels to offer excellent rollover on rough terrain.

Orbea Wild FS M-Team Carbon 2020

The Wild FS M-Team is the top of the line model. Featuring full factory series Fox Kashima coated suspension, a Shimano XT 12-Speed drivetrain and XT twin-piston brakes to match. It's finished with a DT Swiss wheelset and Race Face finishing kit.

Orbea Wild FS M10 Carbon 2020

The Orbea Wild FS M10 is the mid-spec model. Featuring the same frame as the above but with without the carbon wheels, bars and Kashima coated factory series shocks. It's offered with a XT/SLX mix on the gearing, a Fox Float 36 fork and Float DPX2 rear shock.

Orbea Wild FS M20 Carbon 2020

The base spec Orbea M20 is built using a carbon front triangle, but an alloy rear swingarm. Coming in at a great price point and featuring many of the components from the model above. The M20 has the Shimano XT drivetrain & MT520 brakes.

Summary

It's clear the design team have been busy at Orbea building all these features into a brand new 2020 line up. It's one of the first eMTB's we've seen with this amount of tech and great spec components. Here's 'Rob Rides eMTB' first impression of the Wild FS bikes.
