What is the Orbea RS Control System?Β
Rider Synergy (RS) is built around one goal: enhancing performance and redefining the riding experience by creating seamless connections between rider and bike. The concept began with the Orbea Rise, a model that revolutionised e-MTBs by placing the rider at the centre of the experience and proving how natural electric mountain bikes could feel.
Since then, Orbea has expanded its in-house expertise, developing proprietary electronics and components. This integration marks a pivotal milestone in the RS journey, shaping the future of e-MTB design. In true Orbea style, if they want something and it doesn't exist, theyΒ make it. The new Orbea RS Control system comprises their new bar controller, electronic dropper post and the CAN communication system it uses to communicate to other components on the bike.Β
What does the new Orbea RS Control System do?Β
Orbeaβs new RS Control System represents a major leap in e-MTB integration, bringing together e-bike controls, ride data, and even smart dropper functionality into one unified ecosystem. At the heart of the system is a compact, intuitive remote that gives riders seamless control over every feature.
What makes this development stand out is Orbeaβs decision to design the entire system in-house, built around a wired CAN bus communication network. This approach not only ensures maximum reliability and performance, but also allows every component to run directly from the bikeβs main battery. The result is a fully interconnected platform that simplifies the riderβs experience while unlocking entirely new functionality.
Why launch the RS Control System now, and what lead to its development?Β
Orbeaβs latest RS Control System upgrade highlights their commitment to tackling challenges that go beyond the ordinary. Instead of taking the easy route, the brand invested years of development into creating a system that fully aligns with their Rider Synergy philosophy.
The result is an innovation designed to feel seamless and natural, keeping the rider at the centre of the experience. This milestone showcases Orbeaβs refusal to compromise, and their drive to push the boundaries of e-MTB technology, even if that means inventing their own components to integrate with other manufacturers systems.
The Orbea RS Control System components
RS HMI controller
The all-new RS HMI controller, designed by Orbea exclusively for their own Shimano driven bikes redefines e-MTB control by integrating motor assistance, dropper post operation, and ride information into a single, ergonomic unit. Larger textured buttons provide clear tactile feedback, even with gloves, ensuring precise inputs every time.Β

A bright front LED displays assistance levels and walk mode at a glance, while real-time battery information guarantees riders set off fully charged. New βSmartβ features elevate performance, including instant ride profile switching between RS and RS+ with a single press, and a predefined power burst for short, sharp climbs. Itβs intuitive, reliable, and designed to enhance every ride.
Orbea MC10 RS eDropper
Orbeaβs new MC10 RS Dropper Post sets a fresh benchmark in lightweight, long-travel performance. Weighing just 548g for 240mm of travel, it delivers a smooth, fast action with outstanding reliability and one of the lowest stack heights available. Riders can choose between 180, 210, or 240mm options, with tool-free travel reduction in 5mm increments for a perfect fit across frame sizes.

Built on a traditional design foundation, it adds next-level electronics, including partial drop and ready-to-drop smart modes. Powered via plug-and-play CAN bus cables and controlled by an intuitive electronic remote, it redefines dropper performance with cutting-edge simplicity.
