We are live in Schweinfurt, Germany for the eBike launch and first preview of the 2017 Haibike xDuro and sDuro electric bikes. Want to see what's new?.. The launch set off at a secret location close to Haibike's production facility in Germany. The presentation was attended by the top dealers from around the world in an exclusive first look at the 2017 model ranges that will be officially announced later this year. Haibike has always been ahead when it comes to electric bike integration with their sDuro (Yamaha) and xDuro (Bosch) ranges of eBikes. New Features for 2017 Haibike Yamaha PW-X System New for 2017 is the Yamaha PW-X system, a totally revised, more powerful eBike system that will feature on some of the higher end Haibike sDuro line up of eBikes for 2016. You can read our full article on the new Yamaha PW-X system here - Yamaha PW-X 2017. Integrated Yamaha Display The Haibike 2017 sDuro model range with the new Yamaha eBike system will have an exclusive Integrated Display, designed by Haibike to mount the complete display within the stem. The new stem will be available in 3 lengths. This is fully integrated with metal a surround, so nothing protrudes from the bike allowing for a neat bar set-up and less vulnerability overall, particularity for eMTB'ers. Bosch Purion Display Haibike have opted for the smaller Bosch Purion display across both the xDuro Downhill, NDURO and so me of the AllMtn ranges for 2017. This smaller display sits to the left of the bars with inbuilt user controls and screen in one small, compact unit. Read our full write up about the Bosch 2017 components here - Bosch eBike 2017. eConnect eBike App Haibike have developed the worlds first integrated eBike smartphone application. Some of the higher end sDuro (Yamaha) 2017 model ranges will come pre installed with the hardware to run the application. Users can then become fully connected to their eBikes by use of a smart phone application labelled 'eConnect'. The eConnect On Board Unit (OBU) hardware will allow many connections from a Haibike including GPS for location tracking, GSM for communication, Bluetooth for data connectivity & an in-built battery. This new technology will open up many new features that we will cover in a separate article. But for the time being, things like Anti-Theft, Bike Locator, Crash Detection & Route Exports will become available. When can I get these? The new Haibike sDuro & xDuro 2017 ranges will be announced later this year at EuroBike. With pre-orders starting closer to Christmas and likely stock arriving early next year. Stay tuned on our blog where we will be taking more in-depth looks at the product ranges over the coming months. We grabbed one of the new Lapierre Overvolt FS 700 2016 eMTB's to play with at our local trails to see how well this eBike performs & give it a full review. Let's start by saying we'd been thoroughly excited by the 2016 range of electric mountain bikes from Lapierre. With an eMTB range that's more than doubled in size and now with the Bosch / Yamaha options offering something for everyone. Lapierre have been high up in the regular bike game for some time now, but it's nice to see them taking the electric mountain bike scene seriously. Even Nico Vouilloz (10 times world champion) is on board as Lapierre's chief in testing and design, he now rides a eBike! What do you get? Let's firstly look at what you actually get for your money? For a sub £4k eBike, three thousand seven hundred to be precise you get rather a lot: RockShox Pike's up front with a Monarch RT at the rear to match. Full Shimano XT 11 Speed coupled with Shimano disc brakes on matchmaker clamps. A Mavic wheelset on Formula sealed through axle hubs wrapped with Schwalbe's finest Hans Dampf tyres out the box. The bike is then finished of with Nico Voulliouz's very own signature bars and an Easton finishing kit. Electric wise you'd need not ask for any more. It features the brand new Bosch Performance CX line motor with increased torque and assistance. You also get the top spec 500Wh Bosch eBike battery pack for extended days in the saddle. Introduction First and foremost, let me get this out the way; we had an upcoming E-Bikeshop Owners Club ride and I knew this shiney new Lapierre FS700 eBike was due in any minute. Fortunately it came in time and after some brief fine tuning the bike was ready to roll. However, on the day I was a little nervous having given up my other eMTB to a colleague to ride while I rode the Lapierre FS 700.. The reason why I am mentioning this is because I really like my regular eMTB, I know exactly what it does, how it rides & I feel it's perfect. So from here the Lapierre had a lot to live up to, I was dubious that I wouldn't enjoy it as much and as ride time is becoming more and more rare for me these days, every minute of it is valued! Ride Time I took the FS 700 to Peaslake to explore the Surrey hills, full of singletrack, twists, turns, climbs, jumps and trails. The perfect place to put the Lapierre eMTB through it's paces. Straight out the car park a daunting climb sits ahead of us. Bosch CX system It has been raining the previous week so the surface was real sloppy, fortunately the Hans Dampf tyres kicked in here and I found the increased torque of the new Bosch CX motor completely take the sting out of the climb, staying in the saddle with the weight over the back end the bike flew up and just kept on pulling all the way to the top! I am used to riding the standard Performance Bosch motor and the CX was noticeably different, smoother, torquier and quieter under strain. Even giving it a hammering across the Surrey Hills in typical UK weather! Suspension Now to the singletrack downhill riding, I had previously had a quick tinker with the shocks to set up for my weight. At this point I have to say I have been a Fox suspension man for many years so was keen to see what RockShox; in particular the Pike's had to offer. The front end felt lighter than I was used to with the bike popping over roots and drops with ease. I could tell why Lapierre have crossed their OST+ rear suspension design over from the famous Zesty and Spicy bikes. The rear end hugged the trail and zapped up every bump I could throw at it. The rear Monarch did well to ensure maximum traction was felt without bogging when getting back on the pedals hard. Let's not forget the dual stage setting on the rear, should you wish to dart up a fire road with ease by locking it out. The Pike's really took me by surprise, I see why so many trail riders voted to bring back the Pike's and why they were a sell out last year! I felt the forks a lot lighter on the front end and seemed a little more progressive, they soaked up the trail, felt smooth and although some say their isn't as much adjustment as the Fox Float's I'm more of a just-get-on-and-ride kinda guy. In fact I left the compression damping fully open at the front and just let the bike do the work all day! I thoroughly enjoyed riding the setup, no quarms there. Drivetrain / Brakes I was really excited to try out the new Shimano XT 11 speed setup. Having only ridden Sram 11 speed on a previous bike of mine I am a Shimano guy at heart so was looking forward to the new XT equivalent. As with all things XT you come to expect super sleek components with hints of silver polished surfaces and smooth crisp operation. I have to say the new 11 Speed XT is just that. Moving away from 2x10 setups and onto the more versatile 1x11 the wide range cassette really gives you maximum versatility and optimum gear ranges both bottom and top. The extra range of 11-42 over traditional 11-36t setups mean that that extra gear or so was present when climbing, although I didn't use the 42t much of the ride it really came into it's realm when I passed 5 other eMTB's on a climb of which I was the only one who made it up without stopping, the light 42t worked in harmony with the extra torque of the Bosch CX motor to step it up a notch and allow me to spin freely up the climb with ease. Needless to say the bottom range of the gears meant I could hit maximum attack on the flatter fire roads to get to the next trail section swiftly, I didn't find myself running out of gears at either end of the spectrum. Lapierre have matched the drivetrain with Shimano disc brakes on larger rotors on the FS700. As expected the servo action of the Shimano levers felt smooth and progressive and allowed a decent amount of modulation to come to a halt quickly without locking up. Whilst these were faultless for the UK singletrack I was riding, I'd imagine they would fade a little for alpine riding on long descents. But for the type of rising I was doing; short bursts of single track, fire roads, technical sections and climbs they were great. Finishing Kit The Lapierre Overvolt FS 700 is finished off with Easton stem, seatpost and Nico's own design signature bars. I liked the wide and pinned feel to the bars and the shorter stem (I was riding the Medium frame) which suited me well. To round off the components, Lapierre have spec'd the bike with a Mavic wheelset on sealed through axle hubs and wrapped these with the famous Schwalbe Hans Dampf tyres which my tyres of choice anyway.. Ideal! Conclusion The Lapierre FS 700 performed well and exceeded my expectations. It was felt light for an eBike and really flowy, the bike is well balanced and a little air time just came natural on the bike. Without feeling front or rear end heavy the bike was a whippet to ride. A short video opportunity: You'll notice in the pictures, the only thing I changed was the straight saddle post to a semi release dropper post, in fact it's about the only thing the bike is missing. Adding a decent set of pedals and a dropper made this bike complete. It left me wondering why they didn't factory fit a dropper... But then I remembered that the bike is only £3700 and rivals its competitors by hundreds considering the spec: XT 11 Speed, Pike RC's up front, Monarch at the rear, Mavic Wheels, Hans Dampf and not forgetting the latest and greatest Bosch Performance CX motor and highest capacity 500Wh battery pack. What more could you want. This is a killer bike for the swag! Hope you enjoyed the review. Check out the full spec here: Lapierre Overvolt FS 700 2016 eBike.

Find out more here - Scott E-Aspect 920 2016 Please Note: Although all hardtails are pictured above with the standard Bosch performance motor they will arrive spec'd with new Bosch Performance CX drive unit for 2016. What do we think? The new Scott eBike range looks really good for 2016. We have decided to expand on the model range to include the bigger travel suspension bikes. Although we will be stocking both the 27.5" & 29" entry level hardtail models, these will be to run alongside the higher spec ones to make it easy for you to see the differences. Our money is still on the higher spec models, considering the small price difference, the spec is justified and in our mind - is a no brainer. It's also nice to have the larger travel, bigger wheel 29" suspension bikes. This really closes a gap in our range for those hardcore 29'er boys looking for a fully spec'd eMTB. One of the models we think will be most popular is the new E-Genius 710 PLUS bikes, the 27.5" wheels combined with the wider tyre will offer superior levels of grip and ultimately be the middle ground between a fat bike and practical trail conditions. When can I get one? Is exactly the same question we are thinking!. All models are available to pre order right now on our website. The hardtails come in around November time, with the full suspension models following a little later on. Some even before xmas! You can find full spec & availability of each bike on our website here - Scott 2016 eBikes.
E-Bikeshop are live in Germany this week at EuroBike 2015. We bring you up to date information about the most interesting electric bikes on show in the 2016 eBike ranges. One thing that was apparent this year was the increase in electric bikes across the board. EuroBike is the biggest cycle show in Europe with every manufacturer showing off what they have to offer for 2016 in both normal bikes, eBikes, parts and accessories. Last year we visited and eBikes were on the increase, however this year it's quite clear that the eBikes are dominating the space with almost half of it devoted to electric assisted bikes. With over 600,000 eBikes sold in Germany last year alone, it's no wonder every manufacturer now has an eBike to offer. Some early adopters are taking the eBike scheme very seriously, manufacturers like Haibike now have over 50 different models within the range, lots with more eBike on offer than normal bikes. The show is split between far east hub drive suppliers and the crank drive suppliers. The dominance of European bikes adopting the latest crank drive systems. It's clear Bosch has the biggest piece of the pie here, but others are following. In particular Yamaha, Shimano and smaller manufacturers like Panasonic, Brose and Continental are entering the crank drive market. All adding to the competition, in our eyes is a good thing because it means we get to see bigger advancements year on year. With so much on offer this year, we haven't even been able to take it all in. So here below are the more interesting electric bikes we spotted in our travels around the Euro Bike show from over 1000 exhibitors from 54 different countries.. Enjoy! FIRST EVER 24" kids electric bike from Haibike, powered with a unique Yamaha system to assist kids further. This electric mountain bike is a bit strange, the massive crank drive motor is powered by a battery pack in your rucksack. Not sure if this works? Last but not least we have a Brose powered electric fat bike. This one taking its inspiration from honey bee comb design. All in all it's been a great first day at Euro Bike 2015. New Haibike 2016 sDuro range of Yamaha powered eBikes coming to UK shores soon. Here we give an overview of the growing sDuro electric bikes set for 2016. Last year we saw a whole new range come to Europe from Haibike as they collaborated with Yamaha to bring a totally new range of electric bikes to the continent. The Yamaha system proved to be hugely popular, most models sold out shortly after announcing the new range. What's new? The 2016 range continues to grow, now with lots of new additions to complement the popular existing models. We see a new things like a kids 24" eBike, new ladies specific hardtail, enduro, cross, 27.5+ wheel eBike and even a full suspension fat bike! This tops the range to a staggering 15 models over last year's 6 model line up! Wow! Yamaha 2016 eBike system There have been some small improvements to the Yamaha eBike system situated on all the 2016 model across the range. The biggest addition are a new Eco+ mode of assistance. Before we had just 3 modes - Eco, Medium & High. Now with the addition of the Eco+ mode ranges can be extended with this more conservative mode of assistance. Haibike have told us that the Yamaha 400Wh battery can now extend to 30% more than previous. Tests have shown Eco+ mode to offer powered assistance up to 170km (105 miles). Also the control buttons see a revamp, now with more stealthy buttons which will last the rigours of mountain biking without fading the what was previously white symbols. The control also now features a micro USB for 2016 so the user can recharge phones, mp3 players etc whilst out on the ride, directly off the Yamaha eBike battery. Neat Eh? Now the new features are out of the way, let's talk about some of the new 2016 models! Every bike is listed below with a brief description, you can click the link on each to learn more including the full overview, specification & prices. Please Note: All of the images below are artists impressions and some of the specification in the pictures is not 100% accurate. Please refer to the full specification on each bike page. The Yamaha system is revised on this model to make it safer for kids, you can read more by clicking the link above. The new NDURO bikes are highly anticipated, now riders have the option of either Bosch or Yamaha on these bikes. It also means that you can hit the trails on a 180mm travel enduro bike without breaking the bank. The Full FatSix is growing on us, at first it was a little bit of a shock, but then that's precisely what its all about. It does make sense to have the added grip and comfort together. We like the new 27.5"+ model too for anyone pondering over getting a fat bike, this will be the perfect inbetweener. Haibike have clearly been very busy putting this new 2016 sDuro range together! What do we think? Here at E-Bikeshop HQ we think new range for 2016 looks great. With lots of new models that pretty much covers all bases for anyone looking for an electric bike. We particularly like the new xDuro Down Hill bike and also the hybrid Cross bikes. These plug 2 gaps in the market that have previously been un-catered for. Pleased to see the spec of the new Haibike FatSix RX too with the new revised geometry and 11 speed gearing. Not to forget the Carbon Ultimate, looks absolutely awesome, can't wait to see these through! When we rode the new Bosch CX Performance drive in Germany, the extra torque and assistance was very noticeable, especially in both Sport and Turbo modes. There is also more low down torque and the whole bike is quieter. Expect a full review on this soon! As always these bikes are in high demand and we expect the popular models to sell out pretty quickly. We think Haibike like the fact that demand is greater than build capacity! When can I order one? Here's a sneaky shot when we visited Haibike to show production is already in full swing: We have actually already started taking orders. All can be ordered now on a first come first served basis with pre-ordered bikes starting to arrive around October 2015. View the full Haibike 2016 range here. We are proud to be live at the Haibike xDuro³ launch for 2016 electric bikes. Bringing you eagerly anticipated exclusive news and first look of the eBike range for 2016... Here goes! This afternoon (Sunday 12th July 2015) we attended the xDuro³ presentation in Haibike's home-town of Schweinfurt, Germany. The presentation kicked off with the introduction of the 2016 sDuro range with Yamaha drives, we'll cover that in another article. This article is all about the Bosch xDuro³! Haibike were the first ever manufacturer to make a Bosch powered electric mountain bike & have been at the forefront of innovation ever since. Staying ahead, Haibike bring a whole host of new features for 2016. Here's a run down of what's new: New Bosch CX Motor We have another article that covers the new Bosch Performance CX 2016 motor in more detail on - Bosch Electric Bikes 2016. The main advantages of the motor is reduced size & weight, more assistance, improved torque & smoother power curve. But Haibike take the integration to a whole new level with the xDuro³ with a new interface and complete stealth approach. Step-In-Battery System Haibike have developed a new Step In Battery system for the Bosch battery on the xDuro³. This unique design means the battery slots straight into the locking mechanism and holder within the frame. Giving a closer fit and further integration, the battery seems more a part of the frame than an add-on. New Decal Designs Where's a new model without new graphics? The Haibike xDuro³ takes it to a whole new level for 2016 with vibrant colours and new offerings in terms of colours. New Interface With the integration of a completely different motor, the 2016 Bosch Performance CX drive has to be mounted in a new way. Haibike have developed a whole new interface for the xDuro³ to reduce weight and optimize fit, this way the Bosch CX drive uses no adaptor plates and sits perfectly in place with minimal flex. On the Full Carbon Ultimate they have also created a 100% carbon interface for the new Bosch CX drive to make it the world's lightest full carbon Bosch powered eMTB! New SkidPlate Haibike have always offered some sort of Bosch motor protection. For 2016 Haibike have created a whole new skid plate on the xDuro³ to match the new Bosch CX drive and the new interface mounting. Overall you can see the xDuro³ range has had quite a drastic makeover with new features and rider focussed innovations. We think Haibike are so far ahead with what they are doing in the electric bike world, that unless they actually put their tools and riding aside for a year or so, no other manufacturer will be able to catch up! We also see a whole host of new models, which we will be touching base on in more detail soon. Expect a full suspension fat bike, new carbon eBikes, 200mm down hill bikes & plus sized tyre models. When can you get your hands on it? We have actually already started taking 2016 eBike orders. All can be ordered now on a first come first served basis with pre-ordered bikes starting to arrive around October 2015. View the full Haibike 2016 range here. Pay in full or reserve today with a £199 deposit. What's next? We will be riding samples of the xDuro³ tomorrow round the single track of Schweinfurt, so expect full xDuro³ reviews, range overviews & plenty more details to follow. Watch this space.
We are proud to reveal details of the new 2016 Lapierre Overvolt electric mountain bikes. The Overvolt Bosch eBike range has been a strong contender for us in 2015 and the range continues to grow & impress for 2016. With some all new eMTB models including both Bosch & Yamaha! Lapierre is one of the biggest names in mountain bikes, with popular models like the Zesty and Spicy, pretty much smashing every group test and also being awarded bike of the year at one stage. Lapierre are clearly taking eBikes very seriously for 2016, Nico Vouilloz (10 times MTB world champion) has been deployed to put the eBikes through their paces. Nico is fully on board with the eMTB craze and has himself been at many eBike races throughout the season. It's so nice to see big-name-real-riders catching the eBike bug! So what's new? The range grows from the current 2 suspension models to 6 models for 2016. With a whole new line up. We see a bigger range in respect of suspension travel too. The 2016 Lapierre eBike range will offer 120, 140 & 170mm of travel options too, which now means Lapierre offer a eMTB for every riding style. Some of the biggest news for Lapierre in 2016 is the introduction of the Yamaha crank drive system to complement the already popular Bosch Performance drive. It appears that the Yamaha system will be exclusively reserved for Lapiere & Haibike in Europe for 2016. Both the 2016 Bosch & Yamaha powered Overvolts will feature totally revolutionary integration methods. The motors are completely tucked away within the frame and offer full protection by use of built in belly plates. You can see above the Bosch CX Performance drive offers more clearance and better suspension integration by use of Lapierre's new OST+ design. Both the compact Bosch and Yamaha drives are perfectly mounted, which allows a short rear end, optimised geometry and zero chain slack by a special swing arm design and built in chain guide. Sneaky Peak? Ok so enough rambling about new tech and design, let's take a quick glance over a few of the fresh new models on offer from Lapierre for 2016: First up the Yamaha Powered eBikes Lapierre Overvolt SX 800 2016 The new Overvolt SX 800 is the daddy of all mountain bikes. We check out the brand new Haibike Enduro Bikes set for the 2015 line up. Following the success of the PRO & RX 2014 models we expect these to be just as popular with some all new features!.. Haibike NDURO Overview The new 2015 Haibike Enduro electric bike range is perfect for those looking for a true 180mm travel eMTB. They are rigged up with bullet proof components and are built for harder hitting riders looking for Bosch assisted Enduro / DH / Trail Center eBike. Forget the uplifts, just ride back to the top. This way you don't need to book in advance, just turn up on the day, pull your Haibike out and go! No more uplifts = More Ride Time = More fun.. Lets Go! One of the biggest changes for the 2015 Haibike NDURO bikes is the integration of the new Bosch Nyon eBike system where you track your ride, navigate using GPS, track fitness & even connect to your smart phone for ultimate rider integration. More can be read about the Nyon system here. Or check out the video below. Lets take a first look at the 2 models on offer - Haibike xDuro NDURO Pro 2015 Brief Overview: The NDURO PRO is the top of the range Enduro eMTB. It features an amzing spec from the new Sram XX1 11 Speed Drivetrain, Fox 38 Talas 180mm front forks together with matching Kashima coated rear Fox CTD X Rear shock, to the brand new Sram Guide RSC dual piston disk brakes. Even the wheels on this beast are Mavic's top end Crossmax Enduro wheels with a Cane Creek Angleset and Thompson finishing kit. Price: £5999 Wheel Size: 26" Sizes: Small, Medium, Large & X Large Haibike xDuro NDURO PRO 2015 Full Specification Haibike xDuro NDURO RX 2015 Brief Overview: The NDURO RX is the younger brother to the PRO, so it shares the same 180mm chassis, but is a little easier on the pocket with a different components spec. The RX features a 10 speed Shimano XT groupset with SLX disc brakes. We still user the Fox Talas 36 forks and Fox CTD rear shock without the Kashima coating. We also move onto a DT Swiss 26" wheel set and as with the PRO a KS dropper seatpost Price: £4599 Wheel Size: 26" Sizes: Small, Medium, Large & X Large Haibike xDuro NDURO RX 2015 Full Specification Bosch Nyon Overview video - What do we think? The new range of NDURO bikes is set to be popular as it was last year. Its actually the only proper 180mm travel specc'd eMTB available on the market today, so this combined with the bulletproof Bosch Performance system and the proven Haibike German build make it a wise choice for any aggressive mountain biker looking to ride longer, harder & faster. We like the fact that the new models have the Bosch Nyon system, this really does transform the ride and it's always nice to have the latest tech eh? It's really trick to have on a bike and makes it much easier to go out all day with some guidance and being able to log everything without relying on your mobile phone to do the work. We think the PRO will always be the more popular option. Yes, it is £1400 more but if you were to get the RX and bung the kit of the PRO on at a later date you'd be looking at more like £2-3K to make the upgrades. That said the RX is a little easier on the pocket for those looking for a reliable, German-built, crank drive eMTB.
Here we take a sneak peak at the best Bosch eBike money can buy. Say hello to the brand new Haibike Full Carbon ULTIMATE to enter the Haibike electric bike range for 2015. e-bikeshop.co.uk visited Haibike in Germany a few weeks back and got to check out the Haibike Full Carbon Ultimate first hand. Heres an overview of this amazing bike.. The Haibike Full Carbon Ultimate is the worlds first full carbon Bosch crank drive electric bike. Although in prototype so we have no confirmed weight as of yet, it should also be the worlds lightest full suspension electric Bosch driven eBike. This bike is built on a combination of sheer beauty and Haibikes ability to engineer the frame work perfectly to integrate the Bosch motor unit within this super lightweight carbon chassis. It simply is the best eBike money can buy. Its almost as if the designers sat down at Haibike and said; Right lets built the worlds Ultimate electric bike, and actually name it the - ULTIMATE! All of the components have been chosen with super light weight in mind to match the carbon frame. Haibike compliment this base with carbon wheels, handlebars, seat post, saddle & even carbon cranks! Haibike have opted for one of the worlds lightest suspension forks. The RockShox SID XX World Cup forks are 120mm travel & feature a fully air adjustable setup for each riders preference and of course the new XLoc lockout system for conserving energy whilst climbing. The Haibike Full Carbon Ultimate's rear shock is matched with a super light RockShox Monarch XX air adjustable shock. Close up photo of the Haibike Full Carbon Prototype set for production in spring 2015. Not only does this FullCarbon bike feature the very best and lightest components, but it also integrates the brand spanking new Shimano XTR Di2 gear system. This whole gear setup is electronic, the advantages of this are its all integrated within the ultimate frame and fits perfectly with the Bosch system. It also means no cable flex, minimal adjustment and silky smooth shifting. This 11 speed setup uses a 11-40t rear cassette for a truly incredible gear range to use along with the Bosch Performance motor. The wheels on this beast are also full carbon, they are hand made by Bike Ahead in a 650B format to ensure fast rolling speeds and easy maneuverability combined, super light, super strong & super looks tick all the boxes for these lovely wheels. To grip these rollers to the floor Haibike have opted for Schwalbe's Thunder Burt German made tyre. These rubbers are very fast rolling but give a decent grip across varied conditions. Yet again they are one of the lightest tyres Schwalbe produce. Another close up of the FullCarbon Ultimate prototype here. Everywhere you look is carbon, carbon carbon! To slow this incredible machine down we have, Magura MT 8 hydraulic disc brakes with carbon composite levers. Again german made, these stoppers are maintenance free and offer superior amounts of stopping power through their large piston design. The whole approach to how this electric bike is designed is very sleek indeed. From the way the battery integrates into the frame, to the logos stretching across it. It just feels right! To top off this huge spec Haibike have fitted the FullCarbon ULTIMATE with the very latest Bosch Performance drive system, combined with the latest Bosch Nyon head unit to bring so many new features to this top end electric bike. With Nyon you can use features like, Satellite Navigation, Bluetooth connectivity with your smartphone, fitness tracking & more. Read more about Bosch Nyon here. What do we think? This incredible machine is quite possibly the most beautiful bike going. The sheer design and thought put into this makes it something very special indeed. From the first time we saw this in Germany we simply fell in love with the ULTIMATE eBike - Does this sound crazy?! We love the integration of this bike, everything from the gearing to the actual drive becomes integrated within the frame to create an all in one bike that you can of course also link your computer and smartphone too. This bike will be available in Spring 2015. Haibike have already told us its on a first come first served basis, with orders already in @ e-bikeshop.co.uk, be one of the few to grab this awesome exclusive machine. You can preorder, view pricing, full specification & pictures here - Haibike FullCarbon Ultimate 2015
We announce the new Raleigh Captus electric bike today to compliment the Raleigh eBike range for 2015. This Bosch powered electric bike is the younger brother to the Raleigh Motus already available. Why Raleigh Captus? The Raleigh Captus will follow the Motus into the 2015 season at a lower price point and a specification to match. Whilst the Motus retails at £2000 the Captus will come in at just £1750 to offer a more budget friendly eBike into the range without breaking the bank. As with the Motus the Raleigh Captus will be available in both Low Step & Cross Bar variants. This bodes well as a 'his & hers' or the low step unisex version is suitable for those looking for easy manoeuvrability. What is the Raleigh Captus designed for? The Captus is a hybrid style, trekking bike. Its suitable for road riding with larger 700c fast rolling wheels. This electric bike can also be used on light cycle paths, bridleways and canal paths etc. This style of bike is popular with commuters and leisure riders alike, due to its versatility, its not just restricted to the road which means darting across that field on the way to work or riding along the river side becomes a viable option. What do you get on the 2015 Captus? It comes pre equipped with all those essentials - Mudguards, Prop Stand, Comfy Saddle, Adjustable Stem, Semi Wrap Back Handlebars & a pannier rack on the low step version. The Raleigh Captus comes with the latest Bosch Active line system to offer the latest technology for maximum range, reliability and usability. You can read more about the Bosch system here. Raleigh Captus Components out the box? The components on the Raleigh Captus are well thought out with a derailleur gear and light weight V Brakes. The Captus benefits from 700c alloy double wall rims for strength and a corrosion free finish. The tyres on this model are a hybrid tyre suitable for both road and light of road and have a puncture resistant lining within them. Adding to a comfortable ride is an adjustable stem, with slight wrap back bars. These handlebars give a nice natural position whilst riding and offer dual zone comfort rubber grips. The saddle is comfortable out the box and we have a suspension fork on the front to take the shock out of the road. The suspension forks are low travel and designed just to take the edge off the terrain. The user can also lock them out whilst riding up hill to conserve energy. What's the Verdict? On first impressions the Raleigh Captus is finished in a lovely Satin finish. Its not completely matte and not glossy, so it looks rather more expensive than the price tag it possesses, but is also easy to clean. Those looking for a slightly better specc'd bike should check out the Captus's older brother - The Motus. But the 2015 Captus offers an affordable way onto a Bosch crank drive eBike without breaking the bank. For just a little more you can be in possession of a lightweight Bosch equipped trekking bike over any hub drive eBike, offering more durability and a reliable well respected system. When can I get one? We are expecting first stock of the Captus in January 2015. As the Motus has proved twice already, it's sure to sell out ahead of arriving. Please find more information, pictures, reviews & full specification on each model preview here: Raleigh Captus Low Step 2015 & Raleigh Captus Cross Bar 2015

The Haibike xDuro all mountain eBikes have always been our most popular range of bikes. This is set to continue through 2015 with the larger range and wider price points. We love the AMT PRO, mainly because of the 11 speed drivetrain, new twin piston brakes and of course not forgetting those super sexy Crank Brothers twin spoked wheels. All the AMT bikes are built on Haibike's German built frame which is not only super agile but flows very well with the componentry selected. We like the internal cable routing, it keeps the bikes looking sleek and fresh in their clutter free appearance. It also reduces the risk of any snags whilst out on the trail. The Nyon display is a great on the top 2 bikes in the range offering a complete all in one system for exploring the great outdoors. The dropper post is also a handy addition on these models too, for ultimate adjustability whilst riding. So fat bikes have been around for yonks now. But why have they only just taken off? The electric bike world has a big part to play in this, let us explain whilst the brand new Haibike FatSix 2015 Fattie eBike is revealed! What are fat bikes for? Realistically the wide tyres and burly wheels are great for travelling over harsher terrain like, deep mud, snow and sand. But they are also widely used for bombing about on be it to the pub or round the local trails. Why have fat bikes become so popular in Britain? This is a good question, as we don't have many deserts, although we do have some good coastal beaches. We also don't get much snow here either. So why have they become so popular? This is easy.. Because Fat Bikes are awesome! Disadvantages to fat bikes? Well.. They can be heavy, clunky and generally quite hard to ride around. Yes they have amazing grip levels when it comes to softer terrain, but the high rolling resistance and added weight of the huge tyres often drags fat bikes down on the road or on hard pack surfaces. Why Fat eBike then? It just makes perfect sense! Build a bike with lightweight (but wide) drilled out rims, stick on some super wide but lightweight tyres and you have a bike that's not really that much heavier to ride. Add a Bosch eBike motor to the equation and you are laughing. For once we have a bike that is powered assisted, using a renowned reliable electric system from the German manufacturer Bosch. Say hello to the 2015 Haibike Fat Six! 2015 Haibike xDuro FatSix - The next generation of eFAT bikes! The Haibike FatSix is a brand new model in the 2015 xDuro line up. Its built with bullet proof components and comes in at a decent price. The new Haibike FatSix bike is built using the Bosch Performance Drive System and the using the brand new Bosch Nyon LCD multifunctional display. Bosch Nyon connects directly to your smartphone using Bluetooth to navigate your music collection view incoming text messages and call. Nyon really gets advanced with its built in satellite navigation and full fitness suite which connects directly to your pc to download rides and measure your fitness. You can read more about Bosch Nyon on our other article - New Bosch Nyon Functions. Here's a short video showing some of the features. Haibike have fitted this bad boy out with RockShox new Bluto front suspension forks, these are specifically designed for fat bikes. The forks offer 100mm of travel and full air adjustability for each individual riders weight. They also feature a remote 'PushLoc' so the rider can lock the forks out when on the move to preserve energy. The Fat Six rolls around on a hydroformed alloy German built chassis, with internal cable routing to keep everything clean and snag free. The frame comes in this fantastically cool Camo style colour scheme! To keep thing easy Haibike have opted for the lightweight Shimano XT 10 speed drivetrain and a pair of hydraulic disc brakes front and rear to match. Easy, simple, maintenance free and with ample stopping power to keep this beast under control on the descents. The wheels are built using Alex AQ6 rims which are specifically built for fat bikes. These super wide rims are alloy and drilled out so very lightweight without compromising strength. These are laced onto Formula sealed bearing hubs on super stiff through axles front and rear and laced using DT Swiss double butted spokes. Creating a super lightweight but super strong wheelset for this amazing machine to roll on. To grip these lovely wheels to the terrain Haibike opted for the Schwalbe Jumbo Jim 4" wide tyres! Again specifically designed for fat bikes by the Germans, these tyres offer superior amounts of grip across varied terrain without adding unnecessary weight to the bike, in fact they come up just as light as a set of 2.4 Muddy Marys! A bullet proof bike deserves a matching set of bullet proof super grippy tyres! What do we think? We had the opportunity to ride one of the very first prototype FatSix's that Haibike made in Germany a few weeks back. This badboy is so much fun to ride around, even more fun as you power past other cyclists on their lightweight roads bikes and full lycra gear! Here's a ten second glance over the fantastic new Fat eBike (excuse the blue wheels, this ones a prototype) All in all we think the new Haibike FatSix will be a winner all round with posers and serious MTB'ers alike!
